Additional Warranty Protection

It may seem odd that Ravenel Ford is a big supporter of extending the warranty on your vehicle. This is because if you look only at the statistics, the odds are in your favor that you will not have any breakdowns. We like extending the warranty because we know it keeps our customers happy even if they have a problem. Any breakdown is a big inconvenience and with the complexity of today's vehicles, a large expense. The following example may illustrate.

What happens when your car breaks down?
With Ford ESP Warranty
On Your Own
Get car checked to see there is a quick fix. If not, get a no cost rental car and get on with your day while your car is being repaired.

The Dealer fixes it using whatever new Ford parts it needs to make a complete repair.

Pick up your car knowing it is repaired to factory specifications.

Find someone to help you get your car to a safe place if it will not run. Decide who can repair it. The dealership has the trained technicians supported by the engineers who designed and built your vehicle but you know someone who spent $1500 getting their car fixed and you don't want to pay that much. Your friend knows a guy who used to work at (got fired from) a dealer who might fix it cheep. You call them and they tell you to bring it by to look at. You get it towed ($65.00) and borrow someone's car (big inconvenience). Two days later you hear from the shop. They think it might be a sensor. If they buy one from the dealership (Ford factory replacement part) it will cost $350 but they can get an aftermarket part for $260. If the sensor does not fix it they will try a computer for $1200 from the dealer or $900 rebuilt. They also advise you that if the computer is bad when the car breaks down again it may damage the sensor and you will have to replace it again. They want to know if you want to change both now or chance the sensor only and if you want to use Ford parts or the rebuilt ones.

As important as getting an extended warranty is whose warranty you buy. At Ravenel Ford we sell only a genuine Ford ESP extended service plan. While we do not claim that all aftermarket warranties are not a value, we have had poor experience with many. A Ford warranty is administered by Ford to keep you happy during the time you are most likely to decide what vehicle you will buy next. An aftermarket service plan is administered by an insurance company who is paying a claim any time your vehicle breaks down. They have no reason to keep you happy and normally pay out as little as possible.

You can buy a Ford ESP extended service plan for most new Fords that have under 36,000 miles on them and are less than 3 years old. There is a discount available when you purchase a plan before 12 months or 12,000 miles old. Please contact us for a quote if you have not already purchased a plan for your vehicle.
