The concept is simple: State law requires that manufactures sell to all dealers for the same price. Most small stores only sell a few cars, but have to make high profit on each vehicle to cover all of their expenses. A large metropolitan store has to pay for an expensive location and huge overhead and advertising - not to mention the big houses, yachts and planes for which so many dealers have a taste. But a small country store like Ravenel Ford (just a short drive out of town) could sell many cars for a small profit and easily cover expenses!
